All our benches, chairs and stools are made from Rubberwood (aka Parawood) -- Grown in Malaysia, India and Africa for the production of high quality latex rubber.  After 25 years, the yield of sap from the tree to produce latex declines.  At which time the trees are cut down (with new ones planted in its place) and sent to the mills to be made into furniture and furniture accessories.  The color of the wood, similar to pine, is whitish but may change to a light yellow.  The grain pattern and density of the wood, similar to Mahogany, is straight and very high in density...which makes it ideal for building quality, hardwood furniture.
