Most our chairs and stools are made from Rubberwood (aka Parawood) -- Plantation grown in the Amazon basin, Malaysia, India and Africa for the production of high quality latex rubber.  After 25 years of production the yield of latex declines at which time the trees are cut down and replanted.  They are then sent to the mills to be made into furniture parts.  The color of the wood is whitish but changes to a light yellow upon exposure.  The grain pattern is straight and is similar to Mahogany.  The strength is superior to Pine and has a very high density.
